All Irish euro coins have the same engraving. In the crown, the twelve stars of the European Community. In the centre, a Celtic harp, an engraving that has appeared on old Irish coins since the first issue in 1928. The Celtic harp, which has 32 to 38 strings and is smaller than the concert harp, is an instrument used to accompany traditional Irish and Breton music. Dagdar, the druid god of Celtic mythology, owned this instrument. Surrounding the harp, at three o'clock, the year and at nine o'clock, the word 'É I R E'. The engraving is by Jarlath Hayes.
