The "Coupure Euro De l’Année" (CEDA) prize

The CEDA prize, what for?

As we are happy to show our pleasure to those which creat beautiful Euro coins or boxed sets, the association The Friends of the Euro decided to award every year the CEDA prize (Coupure Euro de l'Année - Euro Item of The Year).

The issues are numerous and of quality for a certain number of them. The CEDA award is a prize which, in the spirit of the ADE, must reward the innovation, the intrinsic artistic even graphic quality of the proposed coin or euro item, and not its scarcity and/or its patrimonial value.

In other respects, the aim of each association is to gain new members: each new member will bring its look, its knowledge, its vision of the things... and its time to make the common work go forward. To gain members, it is necessary to be known, visible and present in the media.

The CEDA prize, how does it work?

Its principle is simple and in two steps:

  • initially, the Board of Directors proposes as candidates a list of 5 to 20 coins, boxed sets, banknotes (or anything else in the field of the Euro's collection as defined in the « Euro 5 » book, therefore official and legitimate), issued within the current year. This list is communicated in January.
  • then, the proposals are put online and each member can vote during a limited period. A second turn can take place if the winner does not sufficiently stand out. At the end of the votes (in one or two turns), the result is announced.

The CEDA 2008 award?

Each ADE member had its role to play in the attribution of the CEDA 2008 award. You were at the basis of the choice's list of the €coins or €items selected to compete for the CEDA 2008 award. Then you elected the most beautiful item among the coins, the boxed sets and other €items appearing in this list. It is the sole numismatic award where the electorate is composed of collectors, nonprofessional, active, therefore concerned first and foremost by the items issued by our monetary institutes. In plain language, we offer you each year the opportunity to express your opinion on the quality of the work of our monetary institutes, this in a constructive way.

The CEDA 2009...
